Duncan Peak Fire Lookout

Words can’t describe just how incredible it was to be here for sunrise! I’ve witnessed and photographed many sunsets at this location, but I had yet to see a sunrise. It was by far the best light and color I’ve ever seen at the fire lookout. I’ve had a long standing vision and goal to capture this place under an epic sunrise and in the winter time under snow. After seeing that the weather forecast was in favor for a grand sunrise I knew I had to jump at the chance. The trip here was not easy. It involved getting up super early and driving many miles through snow and ice before there was finally enough snow to unload my snowmobile to get me the rest of the way to the top. I’m already looking forward to more return trips for sunrise when the snowpack fills in more. As I’ve said before a large part of capturing a photo like this is the adventure along the way!
