Description
When I discovered these petroglyphs several years ago I knew that I would have to go back and photograph them under the Milkyway. After a recent late night mission with two good friends my vision of this shot came to life. The hardest part about capturing this image was lighting up the petroglyphs just right to make them perfectly readable.
These engravings tell the tale of the long forgotten Martis People who once inhabited the Tahoe Donner area. There are dozens of other sites just like these showing nearly the same engravings. They date as far back as 2000 BC. Then around 500 AD the Martis people just seemingly disapeared.
This image is available in both metal or canvas. My canvas prints are all made in-house. I giclee print them using Ultrachrome HD archival ink on archival canvases.
